Facts about Cataract Surgery in Cardiac Patients
- Details of cardiac Medications and heart surgeries (Stenting and Open-heart Surgery) should be shared with the Eye Surgeon
- Blood Thinner medicines should be stopped 3-4 days prior to cataract surgery for safety purpose (to avoid intraoperative bleeding) although it is not mandatory in all cases
- All other medicines should be continued as before and blood thinners can be started on the next day of surgery in an uneventful surgery
- No need of hospitalization and patient can be discharged on the same day on day care basis
- Patients can resume their normal activity soon and can go for the morning walk 7 days after surgery
